SHORT BIO

Melanie Sumrow received her undergraduate degree in Religious Studies and has maintained a long-term interest in studying world religions. Before becoming a writer, she worked as a lawyer for more than 16 years, with many of her cases involving children and teens. Melanie lives in Dallas with her husband, her daughter and one very spoiled dog.

 

 

Melanie Sumrow is the author of The Prophet Calls, a 2018 Writers' League of Texas Award Finalist, and The Inside Battle, a 2020 New York Public Library Best Book for Kids. Before becoming an author, she worked as a lawyer for more than 16 years, with many of her cases involving children and teens. Melanie's debut novel helped launch the Yellow Jacket imprint (distributed by Simon & Schuster) with a focus on Upper Middle Grade books. She lives in Dallas with her husband, her daughter and one very spoiled dog.
